As you can tell, I've been into painting re-do's lately. I did this one in a nice light lemon color and added some paper to the drawer front. I'm still searching for the right hardware. This is a new addition to my writing room. Nice, light and sunny!

sea mist bedside table

Today, I found another bargain buster! This table was $6.99. Oh, this poor table was looking like she needed some good ol' T.L.C. So, I scooped her up and turned her into a beautiful bedside table.

I added 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of Bay Fog, a coat of sealer and new hardware. Total price of this redo: $12.00. Not bad for a new piece of furniture. ;)Enjoy!

I was at the Goodwill (g-dub) and this cute little table caught my eye. Well, the color wasn't that cute, but I could see way past that and what I was going to do with it. I checked it all over making sure it was not going to fall apart on me. I quickly threw it into my cart and paid a meager $7.99 for Georginna, who was looking more like a George at that point. Why do I name my furniture pieces? I have no idea! I gave Georginna a complete makeover! 

Georginna is now a beautiful seagrass side table in our master bedroom. Way to go Georginna! 


Garden Wedding Chair

Next up is Polly! Polly was looking putrid. I can't even show you what the cover looked like on the seat! There is actual print on the bottom of the chair that reads recovered in 1975! You're not kidding! G-R-O-S-S! But, she was $4.99 at the G-dub, so I took the cover off, put in new batting, reupholstered it with $1.99 fabric, sanded, primed and painted. Polly is now sitting proud!

My dad collects old original ads as a hobby. He's been doing it since as long as I can remember. He keeps every ad that he likes in a very neat portfolio. Depending on the season, he frames the ads and switches them out. My mom loves it! I was thumbing through his files the other day and happened upon this ad. Of course, I snatched it up and framed it with a $3.00 frame. This ad is displayed in my kitchen. Look for these magazine ads at Flea Markets! If you see a man about 6'1", skinny wearing a striped polo shirt, a bright smile, thumbing through the mags. and talking to everyone in sight, chances are that's my dad!

bedroom ideas and my friends new blog!

Here's some design eye candy for you. I'm always searching and searching for decor ideas for the bedroom. I seem to be on my designing way for our bedroom and I love to get inspiration from some great bedrooms-all photos are from Country Living! Here are some bedrooms that I'm taking a bit of this and that from the rooms below. I'm going to try something new!

 I would feel like a princess in here and I love the color of the big door in the mirror. I'm thinking of something with wicker and those chairs are great too!

sweet hearts!

What do you do with candy canes left over from Christmas? Make them into hearts. I used Scotch tape to put them together, a wide pink ribbon and all done. ;)

hot chocolate flower-the flower thing tutorial

So many people are doing the "flower thing" and I LOVE the flowers and wearing them makes me :) smile! Spring is almost here!!!

So, here goes it! I'm going to show you how to make a super simple flower that I'm sure I saw on a blog and I have no idea where because you're all so talented, so I'm not going to take full-credit for this, but take heart and have fun!
Lisa, this one's for you my gal ;)

Choose some fabric and cut or tear a 2.5", or so strip.

Find a piece of felt and cut a medium circle. I eyeball everything, so I just cut this out with my eyeball.That doesn't sound right, does it...
Set the circle aside
Get some great fabric or wide, wide ribbon

Fabric: Hot Chocolate
Tie a knot at one end

Twist the fabric around the knot and while twisting add glue. You can use fabric glue. I used Elmer. Elmer and I have been friends for many school years! Keep twisting and keep twisting, around and around...

Depending on how much fabric you cut you can make your flower as big as you like .

Now take the felt circle and add Elmer.

Then add the flower on top of the glue and press. (count to 10)

Then, find a button and add a button in the middle of your flower.

It still looks wet, but when it dries the wet look disappears and it's a solid hold.




With a hot glue gun add a fabric pin to the back of the felt circle. I don't have one of those yet!

Then SO PRETTY! Your Hot Chocolate flower is done! Put it on a sweater, coat, add it to a headband...
